NBA free agents 2020: The 10 best options before 2020-21 season
The 2020 NBA offseason is unlike any before but Detroit Pistons are one of a handful of teams with ample cap space to spend in free agency.
The NBA‘s trade moratorium ended Monday, and the moves began heating up right away.
Now, 2020 free agency is finally here, just a month out from the start of the 2020-21 season, which features 72 games instead of 82.
We’ve seen a flurry of trades this week already, including multiple deals involving stars or high-level role players who impact winning.
Some of the biggest moves: Chris Paul is going to Phoenix, Dennis Schroder is off to the Los Angeles Lakers, Robert Covington is going to Portland, and Jrue Holiday is headed to Milwaukee.
The Detroit Pistons made three trades on draft night and have made five total this week.
James Harden to the Brooklyn Nets is the biggest trade rumor out there. He eventually may get his wish, after he reportedly turned down the chance to become the first $50 million-per-season player with the Houston Rockets.
The free agency negotiation period begins Friday at 6 p.m. ET. Deals can officially be signed Sunday at 12:01 p.m. ET.
Top NBA free agents include:
• Anthony Davis, Brandon Ingram (RFA), Gordon Hayward, Fred VanVleet, Danilo Gallinari, Bogdan Bogdanovic, Joe Harris, Christian Wood and Montrezl Harrell.
