The Detroit Pistons won their 14th game of the season in blowout fashion over the Washington Wizards, 120-91.
It figured to be an uphill climb without Bradley Beal in the lineup for the Wizards. He’s one of the best shooting guards in the world, scoring over 30 a game with five rebounds and nearly five assists to boot. The Pistons sure didn’t waste much time out of the gate blowing this game wide open against a Russell Westbrook and Rui Hachimura-led team without much of anything else.
Josh Jackson was the main man of the half (and the game), as he was scorching, scoring 19 points on 12 shots. Jackson had his step-back jumper working to perfection.
Saddiq Bey, a night after shooting 0-for-9 from the floor, scored 11 in the half.
The Wizards defense was soft like Charmin, allowing Detroit to get to anywhere they wanted. Detroit took advantage, and their 17 assists more than told the story in the half. Mason Plumlee, in 14 first half, minutes scored eight, with five rebounds and five assists. Triple-double watch!
Taking a 19-point lead out of halftime, Detroit held serve, pushing their lead back to 19 with a buzzer-beating floater from Plumlee to end the frame.
It was Frank Jackson time in the beginning of the fourth, as he had the sweet shooting touch with two silky smooth treys plus a soft, high-off-the-glass lay-in going to his left. The Pistons expanded their lead to nearly 30, and that was largely all she wrote.
Plumlee finished with 13 points, 11 rebounds and seven assists in 28 minutes. If the game was competitive, he would have likely gotten more playing time and the chance for his patented Plumlee trip-dub.
Josh Jackson scored 31 points and dished four feeds in 29 minutes.
The Wizards depressing shooting from the foul line was something you don’t see very often — they shot 6-for-19.
