It appears Cade Cunningham is coming to Detroit … if the Detroit Pistons keep the No. 1 pick.
ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski reports the Pistons are still fielding trade offers for the No. 1 pick, but if they hold on to it, they will select Cunningham, the Oklahoma State standout.

The Pistons met Wednesday with Cunningham in New York and settled him on the first pick, Wojnarowski tweeted Thursday afternoon.
Woj’s tweet, while causing a stir on social media, wasn’t particularly surprising. Cunningham was long projected to be the top pick in the 2021 draft, maybe as early as his commitment as a five-star prospect to Oklahoma State. The Texas native did nothing to lose that spot, averaging 20.1 points, 6.2 rebounds and 3.5 assists a game while shooting 43.8% from the field and 40% from 3-point range on a Cowboys team that didn’t offer much spacing.

The Pistons won the top pick at the draft lottery after finishing with a 20-52 record and finishing last in the Eastern Conference.
