Pistons vs. Rockets GameThread: It’s Cade Cunningham vs. Jalen Green in a meaningless game dominating all our thoughts

Detroit Bad Boys

Cade Cunningham started hot in his first Summer League action, but struggled, along with the rest of the Pistons after the first quarter. The Pistons were definitely trying out some new things — force feeding a fumbley Tyler Cook, Saddiq Bey breaking down defenders, three point-guard lineups with Saben Lee. Not much of it worked.

Jalen Green, meanwhile, had a pretty flawless debut for the Houston Rockets in a win over the Cleveland Cavaliers. He scored 23 points on solid efficiency and looked the part of an offensive powerhouse.

It’s had a sizeable portion of the fanbase freaking out for some reason. Tonight could either call some nerves or make everything until opening night pretty insufferable. The Pistons will face the Rockets at 9 p.m. on ESPN.

Personally, I’m actually more interested in the defensive side of the ball. It’ll be interesting to see how Killian Hayes and Cunningham try to guard Green and his teammates. Also, hopefully for everyone involved, the Pistons actually sink some 3-pointers so they have at least a semblance of a functional offense.

Let’s watch and freak out together, shall we?
