ANALYSIS: Pistons’ trade for Marvin Bagley III is a high-upside, low-cost move
Game notes: Earlier Thursday, the Pistons traded for Marvin Bagley III and sent away Josh Jackson and Trey Lyles, so they’ll be a bit shorthanded in this game. They own the league’s worst record, have lost five consecutive games and star rookie Cade Cunningham has missed the past four with a hip pointer injury. He’ll miss game No. 5 with the same injury. … The Grizzlies are one of the best stories in the league, jumping up to third in the Western Conference. They are led by third-year guard Ja Morant, who will be an All-Star starter next weekend. The No. 2 pick in 2019 is averaging 26.5 points, 6.8 assists and 5.9 rebounds. Second-year guard Desmond Bane averages 17.5 points and fourth-year forward Jaren Jackson Jr. supplies 16.8 points, six rebounds and 2.2 blocks. … The Pistons host Charlotte on Friday.
