Next season, the Detroit Pistons will put the “é” in “Détroit.”
The Pistons and the Chicago Bulls will play a regular season game at Accor Arena in Paris on Jan. 19, 2023, the NBA announced on Tuesday.
It will be Detroit’s first game in France after previously playing international games in London in 2013, and Mexico City in 2019. It will be the Bulls’ third game in Paris after playing two preseason games there in 1997.
TRAVELING ABROAD: Pistons’ Bill Bayno can’t remember a team so eager to get better in the offseason
It will be the closest thing to a homecoming game for Pistons guard Killian Hayes, who was raised in Cholet, France, about 222 miles — or 358 kilometers — southwest of Paris. French NBA fans will also be able to watch the No. 1 pick of the 2021 NBA draft, Cade Cunningham, and the Bulls’ three multi-time All-Stars in DeMar DeRozan, Zach LaVine and Nikola Vučević.
The game will be the NBA’s 12th in France since 1991, and first appearance in Europe since 2020. The league’s first regular-season game in Paris was on Jan. 24, 2020, between the Charlotte Hornets and Milwaukee Bucks.
Tickets for the game will go on sale at a later date.
