Detroit Pistons host Cade Cunningham for workout with hopes to bring Jalen Green, Jalen Suggs and Evan Mobley in as well

Detroit Bad Boys

Cade Cunningham has landed in Detroit. Not that this was much of a secret as the presumptive No. 1 pick promoted the fact on his social media accounts, took pictures with fans and was even serenaded by chants of “We want Cade” at a Detroit Tigers game.

Why he is in Detroit does matter, of course, and it’s because the Detroit Pistons hosted him for what is being called a “light workout” by ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski and Jonathan Givony.

Cunningham had previously announced he intended to only work out for one team — the one with the first overall pick, and by working out for the Pistons, he has fulfilled his promise.

That he isn’t budging off of that commitment could lead one to believe that the Pistons do, in fact, intended to select Cunningham with the top overall pick.

The Pistons and GM Troy Weaver are committed to due diligence, however, and reportedly are also seeking individual workouts with other players on top of their board — Jalen Green, Jalen Suggs and Evan Mobley, according to the ESPN report.

Green and Suggs are already scheduled for later this week, but the Pistons might not get a chance to see Mobley in person. The tantalizing big man is reportedly only planning to work out at the Houston Rockets training facility. The Rockets, as we all know, own the No. 2 pick.

Breathless reports for weeks have indicated that the Rockets would love to trade up to No. 1, but fewer reporters seem to be indicating that has much of a chance of actually happening.

It seems that they can’t put together an offer good enough to dissuade the Pistons from using the No. 1 pick, and presumably they plan to use it on a Mr. Cade Cunningham.

Only a little over a week left before the NBA Draft.
