Motor City Hoops: Keith Smith THE Salary Cap Expert

Detroit Bad Boys

Keith Smith, an NBA salary cap savant, and contributor at @spotrac, CelticsBlog, @FrontOfficeShow (co-host) and regular host in Spotify Greenroom joined me on the MotorCityHoops podcast to really dive into the salary cap, contracts, and “numbers” for the Detroit Pistons.

Keith and I start off the episode discussing the overall state of the cap in terms of what Troy Weaver has done over the past 12 months, what he might be able to do in the future and where the Pistons currently stand. We then dive into all the questions about this off-season for the Pistons. Was Kelly Olynyk a good value? How were Saben Lee’s and Frank Jackson’s situations different from the rest of the roster coming off seasons on two-way contracts? What is the status of Hami Diallo’s restricted free agency? And, of course, we spent some time talking about Cade Cunningham.

As we always do, we finish off the episode going Around the NBA. What negotiations are involved in the first-round picks contract? What happened with Dennis Schroder? AND we get a few of Keith’s best player value and team value contracts of this NBA Free Agency.

ALL of this and more on episode 44!!
