Did the Detroit Pistons win the NBA jersey leak this season?

Detroit Bad Boys

The Detroit Pistons do now have the most stellar brand reputation in the NBA. That might have more to do with the product on the floor for going on 15 years than it does the threads the players are wearing, but the “classic” Pistons color scheme and logo are not flying off the shelves outside of the diehards who read sites like this every day.

But damn if they haven’t had a good recent run of alternate jerseys, and if the latest NBA leak can be presumed to be accurate, they might have one of the better City Edition jerseys for the 2024-25 season.

We do this every year. In late August or September some account gets their hands on a bunch of jersey images and specs, typically from some product catalog going to retailers, and NBA fan bases weep with either fury or joy.

Weepers this season could include the Miami Heat, though I guess the could get a jersey to match their “Heat Culture” tattoos, the Boston Celtics, who will be defending their NBA title in Power Ranger colors, and the Minnesota Timberwolves, who look like they have a grade school picture backdrop on their chests. Then you have these beauties from the Detroit Pistons.

Detroit Pistons City Edition Jersey for 2024-25 season

The Pistons have ditched the black jerseys for a cream-toned jersey and Pistons emblazoned on the jersey in a similar font to last season’s when Detroit was used with a funky script.

There will also be orange striping on the side with black trim. There is also a shoutout to the original Bad Boys, with a Chuck Daley signature and the words “Back 2 Back” in the same font as the team name and the 2 a part of a “CD2” basketball icon, a nod to Daley’s previously retired number, with both referencing the consecutive championships Detroit won in 1989 and 1990.

This jersey will join the regular rotation along with the classic white jersey, the classic blue jersey and the … sigh .. continuation of the Statement jerseys that are primarily black with blue and red horizontal stripes just under the chest.

What do you think of the alleged Detroit Pistons City Edition jerseys this year? How do they compare to last year’s black editions? The crisp green St. Cecelia-inspired jerseys of 2022-23? Or the bright red numbers in 2021-22?
